The signing of the Auto de Consignação (Consignment Note) for the “construction of the Basilica of Our Lady of Muxima and Contiguous External Areas” took place last Monday, August 28th.
The protocol act was signed by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Griner Engenharia, Architect José Puna Zau, the owner of the work, Leonel Pinto da Cruz and the tax company (DAR Angola), Antoine Abboud.
With a 3-year execution period, the contract was awarded for an approximate value of 76 billion kwanzas and the project includes the construction of the Basilica for around 4 thousand faithful, a Public Square designed to accommodate large pilgrimages, as well as the construction of a storm wall to contain the waters of the Kwanza River, along the Marginal da Muxima.
This consignment ceremony had the honor of having the distinguished presence of the Administrator of the Municipality of Quiçama, Elisabete de Fátima da Fonseca Tavares de Matos Rafael.
The Director of GOE, Leonel Cruz, emphasized that the beginning of the construction of the Basilica is directly linked to the process of resettlement of the region’s residents, and until this process is completed, it is of utmost importance to ensure that all stages of construction occur in a manner coordinated and participatory. This gradual approach will allow activities to progress consistently until a normal work rhythm can be properly established.
The Basilica of Muxima will play an important role in the region, due to the historical value that the Sanctuary represents within Christian communities, attracting pilgrims and visitors on religious occasions. By executing this project, Griner Engenharia aims to contribute significantly to local development, creating reference infrastructures that will provide comfort and safety to the faithful during the pilgrimages.
